Description
The channel of the mill stream and sluices, which runs to Hockley Mill, dates from the 19th century. It features a brick-lined channel with timber sluice gates. The channel begins 15 meters northeast of the mill, where it narrows to pass under a brick arch bridge. Beyond this bridge, there are a pair of sluice gates on the side to control the flow of water. Another brick arch bridge follows, allowing wagons to bring grain sacks to be hoisted into the loft at the gable end of the mill. The channel then makes a right-angle turn and continues underneath the mill.
