Description
Bereleigh House is a country mansion that replaces an earlier building and dates from the early to mid 19th century, with some early 20th-century elements. The exterior is mostly finished in stucco, featuring some brickwork in Flemish Garden Wall bond with blue headers. While most architectural features are plain, there are architraves around the window openings, and the south corner block has a low parapet with a moulded cornice and rusticated vertical bands at the corners. The roof is hipped and covered with slate.
The north-west front of the house is two storeys with an attic, consisting of seven windows above four. There is a projecting wing at the north end that is also two storeys tall with three side windows. The windows are sashes in exposed frames. A mid-19th-century classical porch in the Tuscan order features two columns in front of two pilasters and double doors. The garden elevation has the oldest part of the house recessed in the centre, with a verandah supported by columns, large sash windows, a mid-19th-century wing projecting on the south side, and a larger 20th-century wing projecting on the north side.
