Description
Drayton House is a house that dates from the early 19th century, with later additions from the late 19th century and 1964. The front is rendered, while some walls are made of flint with brick dressings, and others are painted brickwork. It has a hipped slate roof and features a symmetrical southwest front that is two storeys high with three windows, along with a two-storey, two-window extension on the east side added in 1964. The windows are sashes set in reveals, with shutters on the upper floor of the original part. The ground floor includes a large sash window, a French window, and a French door in the centre, all within a reeded architrave.
A notable feature of the house is a verandah that extends on both sides, supported by six Doric smooth-shafted columns beneath a hipped slate roof. The slightly-recessed walls on either side of the verandah have niches. The floor is paved with small coloured pebbles arranged in circular patterns, and the columns rest on a stone plinth, with a stone pavement in front. The northwest elevation has flint walls, a central round-headed staircase window, and an entrance within an open porch. The other elevations are plain, featuring sash windows.
