Description

The Meat Safe, located 20 meters north of the Orangery, is a game hanging house from the late 19th century. It is constructed of wood and features a lead roof supported by steel saddle stones. The building has an octagonal shape, with six-panelled sections set in an iron-bound frame. The upper four panels are filled with fine metal mesh, and the corners are elevated on steel saddle stones. The roof is weathered and includes a raised octagonal central ventilator. Inside, there are numerous hooks for hanging game birds, small mammals, and occasionally venison.
