Description
Whim Cottage is a lodge dated 1844, constructed from regularly coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings and quoins. It features plain eaves, a single ashlar end ridge stack with a moulded cap, and a stone slated roof. The building has a stepped range of two bays, with the lower range to the northeast set back from the taller range. The taller range includes 2-light chamfer mullioned windows with hoodmoulds and stops on the southwest and southeast elevations. The lower range has a doorway with a moulded Tudor arch and a plain planked door, all enclosed by a lean-to porch that has glazing bars on the windows. The southwest gable displays a dated oval plaque at the apex, beneath a hoodmould.
