Description
Park Rangers House is a late 18th-century building, likely originally constructed as a pair of lodges on either side of a driveway, which were later joined to form a single structure. It is made of sandstone ashlar and features a hipped Welsh slate roof with ashlar lateral stacks.
The east elevation has five bays, with the central three bays featuring a pediment. The outer bays have blind round-arched panels with a continuous impost band and a balustraded parapet. The central bay is slightly advanced and includes a glazing bar sash window and a doorway with a wooden doorcase, a panelled door, and an overlight. This is flanked by round-arched glazing bar sash windows. On the first floor, there is a glazing bar sash window and a small casement, with oculi on either side, and a smaller oculus in the pediment. The outer bays contain round-arched glazing bar sashes and segmental arched sashes above.
The west elevation also features an advanced central bay with a moulded cornice and blocking course. It has a 20th-century tripartite bay window with a glazing bar sash above, flanked by round-arched glazing bar sashes, while the outer bays mirror those on the east elevation.
