Description
The building is an outbuilding located immediately to the north-north-east of the Rectory in Grindon. It is likely from the 17th century, with later additions. The structure is made of coursed rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a clay tile roof with coped verges and a brick ridge stack. It has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high.
The gabled wing on the left includes a board door, a large double-leaved garage door, and a small board loft door on the right-hand return wall. The main range to the right has three chamfered mullioned windows with rebated frames; the ground floor windows have three lights, while the first-floor windows have two lights. There is a central stable door with a lintel dated 1836, a large garage opening to the right, and a central loft opening with a board door.
