SK2268 STATION ROAD 831-1/5/177 (West side) Former Coal Merchants Office at Former Bakewell Railway Station

Former Coal Merchant's Office. c1870. Deeply-coursed dressed sandstone; Welsh slate roof. EXTERIOR: single storey, 6 bays. Bays 3 and 5 have 4-panel doors beneath slightly-projecting segmental arches formed from 2 voussoirs set on impost blocks. Other bays have projecting sills on blocks to 2/2 sashes with matching arches. Bold dentil course to eaves of hipped roof with rolled-lead ridges. Stack at eaves to rear. Sign board over bay 3 doorways bears name of last coal merchant 'HENRY BRAMWELL'. INTERIOR: not inspected.
