Description

House, now Study Centre, built in 1882. The house is constructed of coursed squared limestone with gritstone dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof featuring moulded stone coped gables, plain kneelers, and finials. Stone ridge and eaves stacks are also present. The design is in the Tudor style, with an asymmetrical plan and elevations.

The east front has a projecting gabled bay to the left, containing a canted bay window and a three-light window above, each with mullions, a transom, and arched lights. A round-headed window above is of two lights with perpendicular style tracery and a hoodmould. First and second floor string bands are present. To the right, a recessed bay has a large five-light perpendicular style staircase window with a transom and leaded lights to the first floor. A single-storey polygonal porch, set back, has a flat roof and an arcaded parapet, with a moulded Tudor arched doorway and a label moulding with stops. Diagonal buttresses are a feature. A corbelled chimney stack to the left displays a shield dated 1882. Three further bays are set back to the right; the first two have single-light transomed windows to each floor, while the third bay is gabled with two-light mullioned and transomed windows to each floor and a smaller one to the attic. The south elevation incorporates a projecting gabled bay to the left and a gabled bay window to the right, both featuring one, two, three, and five-light mullioned and transomed windows.

Mid-20th century additions are attached to the west. The interior includes a good contemporary staircase.
