Description
This building is a school, dated 1863, constructed from coursed squared rock-faced limestone with gritstone dressings. It features a Welsh slate roof with moulded stone coped gables and plain kneelers, along with stone gable end stacks. The school has quoins, a chamfered plinth, and a chamfered eaves band. It is a single storey structure with a symmetrical west elevation consisting of six bays. The central part projects outward, resembling an external stack, and is topped by a tall polygonal bell turret with a pyramidal top. On either side of the central feature are two pairs of square section flush mullion windows with pointed cusped lights, separated by buttresses that have two set-offs, all connected by a moulded sill band. The outer bays each have identical gabled porches with moulded copings and kneelers. The doorways have chamfered surrounds and four-centred arches with drip moulding above, leading to plank doors with decorative iron hinges. The porches are labeled 'Girls' and 'Boys'. Surrounding the school is a low wall with chamfered copings, topped with iron railings.
