Description

The railway viaduct, built around 1892, was constructed as part of the North Midland Railway extension to Buxton. It is made of snecked and coursed rubble gritstone, featuring substantial masonry for the viaduct piers. The structure includes seven semi-circular arches lined with brick and supported by robust tapering rectangular piers, each having a broad plinth course where the arch meets the pier. Above the arches, there is a flat band course and coped stone parapets.
