Description

Home Farmhouse is a late 18th-century house, though with earlier origins, and altered in the 20th century. The front and left side are built of dressed sandstone, while the rear and right side are of coursed rubble sandstone, with roughly squared footings. Dressed limestone quoins are used, and the roof is tiled with pantiles. The house has a three-room plan, including a central hearth passage. It is two storeys high, with a three-window front, and a gable facing the street. A half-glazed door is located beneath an overlight to the right of the centre, set within a glazed porch. The windows to the right are two-light casements, and those to the left are three-light horizontal sliding sash windows, all with large panes. All windows have timber lintels. The gables are coped, with shaped kneelers. There are end and right-of-centre chimney stacks. Inside, the room at the left end has a chamfered spine beam; rooms to the left of the cross-passage have chamfered square section joists. In the room to the right, earlier, roughly cut joists remain.
