Description

West View Farmhouse and attached wall and railings is an early to mid-19th century farmhouse, originally with a connected outbuilding. It is constructed of hammer-dressed sandstone with a pantile roof and brick stacks. The farmhouse is arranged around a central stairhall, with a depth of one and a half rooms, and was later extended into the outbuilding to the left. The main part of the farmhouse has a symmetrical three-window front of two storeys, with a lower, single-window extension. A 20th-century door with an overlight is centrally positioned. Four-pane sash windows with stone sills are present throughout, with a small single-pane casement window in the attic floor of the extension. All openings have painted milled lintels, except for the sash window in the extension. The house features coped gables, shaped kneelers, and end stacks, while the extension has a single end stack. A low stone wall runs along the front of the property, topped with cast iron fleur-de-lis railings with vase finials. The property is included on the list for its group value.
