Description

Rievaulx Abbey consists of the abbey church and monastic buildings, which are now in ruins. The structures date from the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries and are built from sandstone and limestone. For more detailed descriptions, refer to the Department of the Environment guidebook. The site is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
