Description
The Church of St Margaret is a church built in 1896, as indicated on the foundation stone. It is constructed of coursed squared stone, and the roof has been renewed with concrete tiles. The church has a cruciform shape without aisles, featuring a north transept tower, a north porch, and a vestry, along with an apsidal chancel. The exterior includes paired lancet windows and stepped buttresses, with a battlemented tower that has a round projecting stair turret. A stepped lancet window is located on the west side, and there is a notable oak door.
Inside, the church features stone and smooth plaster finishes, along with an ornamental crown-post roof. It contains high-quality painted glass, including a west window created by W F Curtis Ward and Hughes in 1905, as well as several lancets. Other windows were made by Shrigley & Hunt. The interior also includes good oak choir stalls and a communion rail.
