Description
Beggar's Bridge over the River Esk is a bridge built in 1619, featuring the arms of Thomas Ferris of Hull, who constructed it. The bridge is made of roughly-coursed large sandstone and has a single deep segmental arch with voussoirs and an arch ring. It has a peaked parapet with chamfered coping that extends only over the arch. The paved roadway is 6½ feet wide and is situated between coped abutments on either side.
