Description
Low Farmhouse and the attached cowhouse to the north were built in the second half of the 18th century for Charles Turner. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared stone with a herringbone tool finish and feature pantile roofs with stone kneelers, copings, and ridges. The farmhouse is two stories high and has a two-to-one bay arrangement, while the cowhouse has two bays with a loft above.
On the garden elevation, the farmhouse has a right bay that is set back, with a side outshut on its right featuring a board door. There is a blocked doorway to the left bay, and the windows are two-light, eight-pane side-sliding sash types with projecting sills. The ground floor of the main range has lintels with tall raised keystones, an eaves band, and block kneelers. The main range has stone stacks at both ends, with the right stack rebuilt in white brick.
The cowhouse, which is lower and set back from the farmhouse, has a board stable door on the right and slit vents, along with an eaves band and block kneelers. At the rear of the farmhouse, there is a door leading into the side outshut. The left bay has a later door in a 20th-century pent porch and a later four-pane window above it. The right bays have a blocked doorway and various inserted windows. The cowhouse also features a stable door and slit vents.
