Description

The boundary stone on Blakey Howe is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the early 18th century. It is made of sandstone and stands as a monolith with a wedge-shaped top, measuring approximately 1.4 metres high. The west face of the stone is inscribed with the initials "T D," which represent Thomas Duncombe, the former Lord of the Manor of Helmsley. Blakey Howe, also referred to as Cockpit Hill, was historically the site of cock-fighting in the 18th century.
