Description

Margery Bradley, also known as Old Margery, is a boundary stone and waymarker that is probably medieval in origin. It is made of sandstone and is a roughly hewn rectangular monolith approximately 2 metres high. The west face of the stone is inscribed with "T D", which stands for Thomas Duncombe, who was the former Lord of the Manor of Helmsley. This stone marks the meeting point of the parishes of Farndale East, Rosedale West Side, and Westerdale. It is located at the intersection of the road from Blakey to Ralph's Cross, which was first mentioned in 1223, and the east-west cross track.
