Description
The building is an 18th-century farmhouse, likely incorporating an earlier structure. The exterior is of rendered red brick. It has a tiled roof, half-hipped in shape, with a large, cruciform chimney, dating back to the 17th century, centrally positioned and with diagonally set stacks on a square base. The farmhouse is two storeys high with three windows. The upper windows are early 19th-century casements, while the lower windows are later barred sashes. A central porch was added at a later date. It is believed this was the original Efford Manor before the construction of Efford House in the early 19th century. Attached to the rear of the farmhouse, and connected by a covered walkway, is a well-preserved mid-19th-century dairy. The dairy has a double-brick skin, with piers, a tiled floor below ground level, and a barrel-vaulted roof. The north wall features three round-arched windows with double glazing, while the south wall facing the house has a central round-arched doorway between two similar flanking windows.
