Description
The farmhouse at Dunnerdale Hall Farm, along with its adjoining byres, was likely built in the mid-to-late 18th century, with later additions and alterations. The house is constructed of lime-washed rubble stone set on a boulder plinth, while the byres are built of coursed rubble with quoins. Both have graduated slate roofs. Originally a three-bay house, it was extended into a former cart shed at a later date, and single-bay byres were added to either end in the 19th century. A rear wing and further outshuts are also present. The front of the house features a studded plank door sheltered by a gabled slate canopy. To its left is a sash window, and to the right are two casement windows. A former cart-shed entrance on the far right now has a plank door and a small casement window. The first floor has three casement windows and one sash window. Each byre has stone steps leading up to a plank door giving access to the hayloft. Inside the house, the interior retains original beams and a plank and muntin partition on the first floor. Rendered chimneys are visible on the original house.
