Description

The Church of Holy Trinity is a church built in 1874, funded by H.W. Schneider. It is constructed from coursed slate rubble and features a slate roof. The building consists of a single vessel nave and chancel, with a north organ loft and vestry. The south elevation has four plain unchamfered lancet windows and a wide buttress between the nave and chancel. The gabled porch includes a pointed arch and angle buttresses, with a flat rough stone attached that once served as a shearing stool for Rev. Robert Walker, who was the curate for 67 years and was made famous by Wordsworth as 'Wonderful Walker'.

On the north elevation, there are three lancets for the nave, along with a gabled organ loft and a flat-roofed vestry with coping. The west end features two lancets and a gabled outhouse with a pointed entrance and a gabled bellcote. The east end has three stepped lancets, a vestry entrance, and a leaded casement window.

Inside, the church has a simple design with a scissor rafter roof that includes ashlaring and a double-chamfered chancel arch. There are Georgian royal arms, a holy water stoup set into the wall, and the chancel features an arch leading to the organ loft, along with the Ten Commandments painted on the wall and some stained glass. A brass plate, re-set from a gravestone, commemorates Rev. R. Walker (died 1802) and his wife, Anne (died 1800).
