Description
Helm Farmhouse and Helm Farm Cottage, with an attached barn, were built in 1834. The farmhouse features a date of 1692 marked "I.M.D" on the rear gable. The exterior is little-washed and pebble-dashed over stone rubble, topped with a roof of old traded slates and an oval chimney. The building is two storeys high and has an L-shaped plan, with a dwelling in each wing. It includes small-paned leaded casement windows with 3, 4, and 5 lights, wood mullions, and slate dripstones. There is a lean-to porch at the inner angle of the L, supported by a timber post, which features a balustraded balcony above the ground floor door. Bee boles are present in the wall beside the porch. The staircase wing is located at the outer angle of the L, while a stone barn occupies the third side of the square, attached to the farmhouse.
