Description
High Farmhouse and the adjoining barn were built in 1730, as indicated by the inscription over the entrance that reads "JOHN AND MARTHA BLAICKLIN." The farmhouse features incised rendered walls and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof, which includes painted rendered chimney stacks, with the right stack being a projecting gable stack. The barn is constructed from a mix of calciferous sandstone and boulder rubble. It stands two storeys high and has two bays, with the left barn under a common roof and a front right-angled barn extension.
The farmhouse has a panelled door set within a painted stone architrave, which is sheltered by a 20th-century porch. The windows are 20th-century casements but are framed by original 18th-century painted stone surrounds. The barn features a plank door within an alternate-block surround, with flanking casement windows and slit vents. The extension of the barn has a similar doorway and window, also under slit vents. Wooden lean-to sheds are present but are not considered of interest.
