Description

This is a limekiln located to the west of Great Wood, dating from around 1840 or earlier. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble. The west face features a fire opening with a segmental head and a narrow projecting course above it. At the rear, there is an irregular platform with stone abutments, which is now covered with trees. The top opening, known as the charge hole, has a diameter of approximately 2 meters.
