Description
Doctor Bridge is a packhorse bridge that has been converted into a road bridge. It likely dates from the 17th century and was widened in 1734 to accommodate Edward Tyson, a surgeon, and his horse-drawn carriage. The bridge is constructed of snecked rubble and features a single segmental arch that spans approximately 30 feet. The roadway is about 9 feet wide, with a straight joint to the arch soffit indicating that the original bridge on the south side was around 6 feet wide. The parapet stands 3 feet high.
