Description
The Eskdale War Memorial is made of granite and is situated at a road junction between Boot and Dalegarth in Eskdale. It features a wheel-head cross, which is decorated with carved circles surrounding a central boss at the top. This cross is mounted on a rectangular tapered shaft. The front face of the memorial is inscribed with the words "THESE FELL/ FOR THEIR COUNTRY/ 1914 – 1918/ (14 NAMES)/ 1939 – 1945/ (4 NAMES)." The other faces bear a similar inscription that reads "THESE SERVED/ IN THE FORCES/ 1914 – 1918/ (54 NAMES)." The shaft stands on a single-stepped base.
