Description

This is an 18th and early 19th century house, situated in Rydal and Loughrigg, and historically associated with Edward Quillinan, a poet and friend of Wordsworth, who was married to Wordsworth’s daughter Dora. The main house is constructed of yellow roughcast over stone rubble, with a slate roof featuring a central round chimney. It has two storeys and an L-shaped plan. One wing is built of dry stone rubble. The windows are now mostly casements, each with a stone label. Attached to the south is a building also of stone rubble, and with a round chimney.
