Description

The Market Hall, occupied by the Mountain Restaurant and offices, was built in 1863 and showcases a picturesque Victorian Gothic style. Constructed from slate rubble, it features steep roofs and a gabled street facade with corner buttresses. The ground floor is adorned with arched windows on each side, while the upper floor boasts a prominent large 4-light cusped window facing the street, along with two 3-light windows on the side facades, each set within their own gables. An octagonal louvre is also present. On the south-east corner, there is a square three-storey tower that includes an arched doorway accessed by a flight of external steps, small belfry-type windows above, and is topped with clock faces on the four gables of the roof.
