Description
Sunnymead is a cottage dating from the 17th century that was refenestrated in the early 20th century and extended. The building is rendered over rubble and possibly cob, with a triple Roman tile roof and rendered stacks at the gable ends and centre left. The plan likely consists of three cells and a cross passage, with a single-storey lean-to addition on the right gable end. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall, featuring two 2-light dormer casements on the right that rise from below the eaves. On the ground floor to the left is an early 19th-century 3-light leaded iron casement window, a 20th-century half-glazed door, and a 2-light casement window to the right below the dormer, along with a half-glazed door in the lean-to addition. The rear elevation facing the road is unlit. Although the interior has not been seen, it appears to contain original roof trusses that may be of interest. The cottage is primarily listed for its contribution to the picturesque village scene overlooking the village green.
