Description
This is a 19th-century limekiln located on the west side of Woody Bay, southeast of Woody Bay Cottages. The structure is made of unrendered stone rubble and has a semi-circular shape, built into the bank. It features two semi-circular arched openings, known as swallows, which have rough stone voussoirs. The third swallow on the right side has been infilled with plank doors. The top of the well has also been infilled. The front of the limekiln includes a retaining wall and a parapet, both topped with rough upright stone capping, and there is a cobbled ramp leading up to it. The limekiln was refurbished in the 20th century.
