Description
Forge Cottage is a semi-detached cottage, now a shop, likely dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and extensions in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The walls are rendered over rubble, with a brick gable end marking a later extension to the east. The roof is thatched, with a swept design on the north-east side of the front facade. A brick stack is located at the west end. The building's plan features two original cells, enlarged with the addition of a storeroom. The cottage stands two storeys high. Windows are 19th-century casements; the left-hand bay on the first floor is unlit, while the right-hand bay has a two-light window. On the ground floor, a two-light casement is positioned to the left, with a three- and two-light casement to the right of a half-glazed door. The door is sheltered by a thatched porch extending almost to the eaves.
