Description
Emmett's Grange is a farmhouse built around 1850. It features a rendered exterior over rubble and a hipped slate roof with roughcast stacks on the returns. The building has a double pile design with an independently roofed service wing on the left side. It stands two storeys high and has three bays on the left and one bay on the right. The first floor and ground floor on the left have 16-pane sash windows, while the right end bay has a 12-pane window. There is a canted bay window to the right of a flat-roofed Doric porch, which has a 20th-century door. The two-storey, two-bay service wing on the left is set back and includes a single-storey, single-bay addition in the angle, featuring mainly 20th-century windows. Emmett's Grange is noted as the best surviving example of the farms built by John Knight during the reclamation of Exmoor.
