Description

The Mount is a mid-19th century house located on the south side of Oldberry Lane in Dulverton. Constructed over rubble foundations, the house is rendered externally and has slate roofs with overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboards to the gable ends. A rendered stack rises from the eaves on the left side and at the rear. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with a parallel rear range projecting slightly beyond the gable end.

The two-story main facade has a 1:2 bay arrangement, featuring numerous multi-paned casement windows. The left gable features a 3-light window, with 2- and 3-light windows to the right. A ground floor canted bay with upper lights and a 3-light window is located to the right of a 6-panel door. A verandah, partially slate-roofed and partially glazed, fronts the two bays on the right side of the facade. The right return features a projecting gable with a 12-pane sash window on the first floor and a 12-pane sash window on the ground floor. The house retains its original fenestration and is a good example of its type.
