Description

The Lee headstone, dated 1773, is located approximately 4 metres north of the nave of the Church of St Mary in Belstone. This headstone is made of slate and stands about 1 metre high. The top of the slab is shaped and features a winged cherub's head, which is naively carved in low relief among circles. The inscription is presented in neat Roman serif lettering, both upper and lower case, commemorating the death of John Lee in 1773.
