Description
Dartmoor Cottage is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the late 16th century or 17th century, with later additions. The building is constructed of painted stone rubble, possibly with a layer of cob beneath the eaves. It features a thatched roof that is half-hipped at the left-hand end. There is a granite ashlar chimneystack with offsets on the right-hand gable, which has a rendered shaft with weatherings and a tapered top. Off-centre to the left on the ridge is a large rendered stone stack, also with weatherings and a tapered top. The house is two storeys high, with single-storey lean-tos at both the front and back. The front is sparsely windowed and three windows wide. Most of the windows are 19th-century wood casements with two or three panes per light. In the centre of the ground storey, there is a window set in a stone projection, which may be an early oriel. The interior has not been inspected.
