Description
Rock Cottages is a terrace of three cottages, likely built in the early 18th century, although the external masonry indicates two distinct construction phases. The cottages are made of granite rubble and feature a slated roof that is hipped at the north-east end. There is a rendered stack on the ridge, positioned off-centre to the right. The south-east side has three storeys, while the north-west side has two storeys due to a change in ground level. The south-east front has six windows; all except the right-hand window on the second storey have old wooden casements with leaded panes. The ground-storey windows have been significantly altered, but two old plank doors remain. The north-west front has only three small 20th-century windows, and all three cottages have old plank doors with windows cut into them. The interiors have not been inspected, but a report from 1980 on No. 1 indicated that the two lower storeys featured chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops, and the middle storey had a fireplace with a plain wooden lintel.
