Description
The well-head and well-house, located immediately southwest of Combestone Farmhouse, date from the 16th to 19th century. The structure is made of granite rubble and features an outbuilding with a corrugated iron roof and gabled ends. The well, which may be ancient, is set into a retaining wall that forms the rear wall of the outbuilding, which now encloses it. There is a wide doorway at the center of the outbuilding, fitted with plank double doors. Inside, the well is constructed of large granite moorstones and is likely the original well or spring serving Combestone.
