Description
Dartmeet Bridge is a bridge that crosses the East Dart River, built in 1792. It is constructed from granite rubble and features two round arches with well-cut voussoirs. The arches have raised keystones with small rounded pendants on their undersides. Each side of the bridge has a low granite ashlar cutwater with a stepped pyramidal top. The bases of the abutments and the central pier are also made of granite ashlar, with a raised bandcourse at the springing level of the arches. The parapets are topped with large, rounded granite blocks. On the outer face of the north parapet, just below the coping, there is a recessed tablet that is carved with the inscription: County Bridge 1792. The bridge is part of an excellent group with a ruined clapper bridge located 20 meters to the north.
