Description
Three adjacent roadside milestones, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, are set in the middle of a stone wall approximately 18 meters west of the junction with Lambert Lane. The milestones are made of granite and Portland stone. Each is a plain slab with an elliptical head. The left milestone is a broad granite stone inscribed with 'Exeter 11 miles, 2 furlongs, 82 poles'. The central milestone is a narrow Portland stone inscribed '11 miles, 38 poles from the centre of Exe Bridge'. The right milestone is also a narrow Portland stone inscribed 'Here ends Exeter Trust'. Two of these milestones are from the Turnpike Trust.
