Description
This building is a former stable, now used as a piggery, located approximately 15 meters south-west of Lambert Farmhouse. It likely dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The structure is made of plastered cob on rubble footings and has a roof of corrugated asbestos and iron. It is two stories high, facing east, and features three stalls with a hay loft above at the southern end, while the earlier northern section, which is open to the roof, is separated from the stalls by a cob wall that reaches the first floor level. The roof is hipped on the left side and gabled (previously half-hipped) on the right.
Although the lower parts of the stable doors are blocked, the original arrangement is still evident, consisting of three doorways each with a small window to the left and a hayloft loading bay above. At the northern end, there is a fourth door with a small window to the left. A bullseye ventilator high in the north end wall may have served as an owl-hole. The continuous roof is supported by oak A-frames with pegged lap-jointed collars, with six bays over the stalls and four over the northern section. This building is included for its group value.
