Description
The walls of the walled garden and stable block to the west of Barnsfield date from around the 1780s for the garden and approximately 1900 for the stable. They are constructed from local slatestone and grey limestone rubble, with the stable roof covered in corrugated asbestos. The walls enclose a large garden, while the stable block is located to the north and uses the garden wall as its southern side.
The exterior features tall walls capped with slate. On the east side, there is a depressed segmental-headed archway that connects the rear of the house to the garden. A doorway on the north side provides access to the stable yard. The stable itself has a hipped roof and includes a segmental-headed doorway on the right with a plank door, and a plain glazed window on the left. The loft has a 2-light shuttered window on the right and a panelled loft door on the left. The interior of the stable has not been inspected. This structure holds group value with Barnsfield and is significant to the setting of this small gentry house.
