Description

The cross shaft located in the garden east of Canonteign Barton is a free-standing medieval structure made of granite. It is notably complete, featuring a chamfered, stopped tapering shaft and a chamfered head. The plinth, which has chamfered stopped corners, appears to be original. There is some uncertainty regarding the cross's original location; it has been suggested that it may have once stood at Leigh Cross, near Bridford Bridge, or that it came from Christow Churchyard.
