Description
North Lodge is a lodge to Canonteign House, built around 1828, possibly by the architect C.R. Ayers, who designed the main house. The building is stuccoed and features a hipped slate roof with a central stack that has a squat, diagonally-set chimney. It has a rectangular plan with four rooms arranged around the central stack. The lodge is a single storey with deep eaves supported by eaves brackets. The front is symmetrical with three bays, featuring a central Tudor arched doorway that has a plank door with a cover strip and studs. There are arched two-light casements with timber glazing bars on either side of the doorway. The interior has not been inspected. The lodge has group value with the gate piers, gates, and walling to the east.
