Description

This is a headstone dated 1732, located approximately 5 metres south of the tower of the Church of St Michael in Chagford. It is made of granite ashlar and features an upright slab with a rounded top, standing about 600mm high. The front of the headstone displays a stylised winged cherub's head in low relief. The lettering on the stone is in plain upper and lower case but is worn and barely legible, making the name of the person buried here unreadable. However, it is known that this individual died in 1732.
