Description

No 6 is a cottage located on New Street in Chagford, likely dating from the 17th century, though it may be older. It is constructed from plastered granite stone rubble and features a granite stack topped with 19 bricks, along with a thatched roof. The cottage has a two-room plan and is oriented along the street, facing northwest. The larger room on the right includes an end stack. It stands two storeys high and has an irregular two-window front with late 19th to early 20th century casements that include glazing bars. At the left end, there is a contemporary part-glazed panelled door. The interior was not accessible for inspection at the time of the survey, but it appears to have seen little modernization in this century, suggesting that original carpentry details may still be present.
