Description
This outbuilding, located about 10 meters south-west of Ruddycleave Farmhouse in Buckland-in-the-Moor, is likely from the 18th century or earlier and was extended at the south-west end in the 19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble, with the older section featuring large, roughly dressed quoins and massive boulders at the base of the walls. The roof is covered with asbestos slates. The gable facing the farmhouse has weatherboarding at the apex, possibly indicating that this end of the roof was originally half-hipped. The opposite gable has decorative slate-hanging on the verges. The building is a single storey with only one opening: a doorway with a plain wood lintel located in the long south-east wall that leads to the farmyard. There is also a slit window in the gable end facing the farmhouse. The opposite gable end was originally open but has been infilled with corrugated iron. The roof structure was replaced in the 20th century.
