Description

The road bridge over the East Dart River is a late 18th-century structure built of granite rubble. It features three spans with round arches, where the central arch is taller and has a projecting keystone. The bridge includes small triangular cutwaters and a cranked parapet with roughly shaped coping stones, along with slightly swept-out abutments. This bridge replaced the nearby clapper bridge and was constructed following two acts in 1772 that aimed to improve the road between Tavistock and Moretonhampstead.
