Description
Gate-piers, walls, and gates located about 75 meters south of Sortridge Manor date from the 17th and 18th centuries. They are constructed from granite and slatestone rubble. The structure features a pair of late 17th-century square granite monoliths that have chamfered plinths and cornices, tapered necks, and ball finials, with an overall height of about 2 meters (one finial is missing). Short quadrant walls extend forward approximately 2 meters to rubble flanking terminal piers, which have square-cut granite caps, tapered necking, and ball finials added in the 18th century. The gates are made of cast iron, featuring horizontal and curved bracing.
