Description
Glena is a cottage from the late 19th century, likely with an earlier core. It features plastered walls, probably made of granite stone rubble and possibly some cob, with a rubble stack topped with plastered brick and a thatched roof. The cottage has a two-room plan and faces northwest, with a central entrance leading into the larger left room, which has an end stack that backs onto the Old Smithy. There is a 20th-century outshot on the right end, and the cottage is two storeys high.
The exterior displays a nearly symmetrical front with two windows, featuring horned 20th-century four-pane sashes, and a central 20th-century plank door. The roof is hipped on the right and extends continuously to the left, connecting with the roof over the adjoining Old Smithy.
Inside, there are no exposed carpentry details; the crossbeam in the left room is boxed in, and the fireplace is blocked. The roof has not been inspected. Glena is part of an attractive group of listed buildings located around the nearby crossroads.
